In 2012 the average wedding cost is said to be around £18,000. But as with everything depending upon your tastes this figure could rise.
Wedding expectations are very subjective to couples planning their big day and you will find some will put more importance on certain parts of the wedding than others.

Below is a breakdown of how the average prices are broken down to keep you on track for a budget you can handle.

Stag & Hen Nights - £400
The service - £500
Wedding Rings - £800
Flowers - £500-£800
Reception Décor - £300-£600
Brides Outfit - £500-£1,500
Brides & Bridesmaids Hair & Make-up - £200
Grooms outfit - £200
Groomsmen’s Outfit - £500
Transport - £350
Photography - £1,000
Reception (food, Drinks & Venue) - £2,000-£6,000
Entertainment - £600-£800
Wedding Cake - £300-£500

Kerry - Pfffft! Blooming rip off that’s what wedding are. If you are careful and budget well, and DIY some things, you could get it down to half the price :)

Nicola & Josh - I’ve just added my whole wedding costs up and they come to £16945. We had saved for about 4 years and this includes everything you have listed above and a few more little extras. Our cake cost £600 but its a fancy 6 tier cake with extra cup cakes. it was a must hae after seeing it!

Simon K - I have to say its a nice change to see blog posts like this when looking for wedding info! I’m currently planning everything with a little help from my bride to be (hope she doesn’t read this)

Currently it looks like a £5800 bill. But this is without photos/video and the honeymoon so I expect this to rise.
